The Story of Us
The International Dominican Youth Movement was born in 1993, when fr. Timothy Radcliffe was Master of the Order. That year the first international assembly met in Newbridge (Ireland), and a founding committee —Patricia Nolan, Fr Yvon Pomerleau, Fr Jean Jacques Perennes and Sister Pilar del Barrio— shaped this community of communities of Dominican youth.
Since then, young Dominicans have gathered in international assemblies in cities such as Ocaña, Maynooth, Rome, Manila, Santo Domingo, Fátima, Bogotá, Toulouse and Santiago. There they elect those who coordinate the movement: first through a Secretary General and later through a young lay International Coordinator, together with the International Commission.
